Case Study: The Norwich Wine Week Festival

Written by Alexis Johnson | (July 22, 2024)

The Norwich Wine Week Festival, held from June 14 to June 22, was a vibrant celebration of Norfolk's wine scene. This annual event brought together winemakers and merchants, offering visitors a chance to indulge in wine tastings, savor delicious food, enjoy live music, and socialize. City venues hosted a variety of events, including tastings, specialist wine and food pairings, and exclusive discounts. Our task was to create high-quality merchandise that upheld the festival's original standards while introducing exciting new wine-related items. The goal was to enhance the festival experience for attendees and reinforce the event's brand identity.

Background

The Norwich Wine Week Festival is renowned for its lively atmosphere and diverse offerings. This three-day celebration showcases the best of Norfolk's wine, providing a platform for local winemakers and merchants. The festival's various events and activities, including tastings, pairings, and discounts, attract a wide range of visitors. To complement the festival, we were tasked with designing and producing a range of merchandise that would resonate with festival-goers. Our goal was to build on the success of previous years while adding innovative touches that reflect the festival's spirit and sophistication.

Challenge

The challenge was to design and produce merchandise that would be both practical and memorable for attendees. We needed to offer items that would not only enhance the festival experience but also serve as lasting souvenirs. Building on the success of previous years, we wanted to create a mix of familiar and new items that would appeal to attendees, all while maintaining the festival's identity and sophistication.

Strategy

To achieve our objectives, we developed a strategy that involved a mix of familiar and new merchandise items. We recreated the beloved tote bags from the previous year along with introducing new items that would enhance the festival experience, such as wine coolers and customized bottle openers.

Execution

Our execution focused on creating high-quality, practical, and memorable merchandise. The recreated tote bags featured updated designs and high-quality materials, making them both stylish and durable. We introduced wine coolers to keep wine at the perfect temperature and customized bottle openers for added elegance and convenience. As a sponsor ourselves, we helped other sponsors with fence banners, ensuring a cohesive visual presence. We also helped produce small gifts like beer mats. Additionally, we designed limited edition bottles to keep wine chilled, serving as practical souvenirs and featuring a bold design born from the collaboration between Zagwear and Norwich Wine Week.
